The island of Corsica is one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean and offers a lush green landscape, a beautiful coastline and tree-covered mountains.

Birthplace of Napoleon, the island is steeped in history and offers a wide variety of traditional crafts including pottery, weaving, wickerwork and jewellery making.

Two of the largest cities on Corsica are Ajaccio in the South whose main industries are tourism and some light industry and Bastia in the North. Bastia has a busy port and manufactures cigarettes, cigars and preserves.

Other towns on the island are Porto-Vecchio, Propriano, Sartène and Vico, Bastia, Bonifacio, Calvi, Corte, Ghisonaccia and L'Île-Rousse.

The main industries on the island are agriculture including the growing of olives, citrus fruit and grapes. Corsica is also renowned for its wine and cheese, much of which is exported. The island also exports granite and marble, tannic acid, cork, wine, citrus fruit, olive oil and cigarettes.

As you would expect, the climate in Corsica is excellent, and compliments the scenery and the extensive coastline which runs over 600 miles around the island.
